Cycling week 9 in review
This week was a recovery week in my training program. Plan was to do keep it below 240 TSS, ended up more mainly due to a long hike. Recovery week meant no Zwift races, or long road rides.
Rick and I did two Virtual Indoor training classes. Rick led the class on Tuesday and I led the class on Thursday. We lowered to 30-20-10 from 2 sets of 5 to 1 set of 5. The program started a new exercise "race winning effort". This is a combination of a vo2max, a standing acceleration and an all-out sprint. All these aspects we already covered in earlier exercises, but now combined in a short sweet explosion of power.
On my weekly run Tuesday it was blustery cold. I must have unconsciously upped the pace as it was my fastest time on this route. Average pace was a 9:14 minute mile.
Saturday I was planning an ez road ride after watching the Strade Bianche race. Btw one of the best races I have seen in a long time. Both the women and men's race were super suspenseful. After the race John texted if I was interested in a Fat bike ride on the snowmobile trails. So I changed plans, riding conditions were good except for some soft patches and got a good 90 minute ride in.
Sunday, Paula and I went for a hike on the same snow mobile trails with our YakTrax. The Yaktrax give you good traction on snowy and icy conditions. The snow was somewhat softer than the day before. It was about a 6 mile hike, unfortunately I had accidentally paused my Suunto Spartan watch after a quick tea break. It missed about 1.5 mile. Along the way we saw some interesting tree structures.
Here this week in veloviewer, since it was a recovery week and not much outdoor activities, the wheel is not too exciting.
