Cycling week 28 in review (mmxxii)
Arrived at campsite Mont Ventoux on Monday and rode a 22 mile loop via Bedoin and various beautiful back dirt roads along the foot of the mont Ventoux.
The next day left early to ride up the mt Ventoux a 12.5 mile climb with an elevation gain of 5000 ft. In the evening with Paula rode 12.5 miles to Bedoin for a dinner.
Wednesday we drove to Le Bourg d'Oisans near the Alpe'dHuez. That day we did 2 8 mile rides to the town, first for groceries and 2nd in the evening to checkout the pre Tour de France stage scene.
The following day was the stage up the Alpe d'Huez, we hiked 15.5 miles to and upto bend 6 of the climb and back.
The next day we rode 13 miles to the start of the next Tour de France stage in Le Bourg d'Oisans. We saw the team presentations before we rode on.
The day after was finally my turn to climb the Alpe D'huez. I made a 33 mile loop that included the 7.4 mile climb with an elevation gain of 3400 ft. I then descended on a beautiful gravel back road. In the afternoon we rode another 12 mile to a nearby lake to cool off.
Sunday we drove to Italy and when we arrived at lake Orta immediately biked 3 miles to the grocerie store for some desperately needed bug spray.
