Still in Orange County, we played another session of pickleball on Monday. Again in the town of Tustin, but this time at the Tustin Pickleball Courts. Ten beautiful courts, with level markings similar to the slope/trail difficulty indications: Green for beginners, Blue for intermediate players, and Red for advanced players. We played for 2 hours until it got too hot.

Active Tustin pickleball group

Later in the afternoon, we said goodbye to Julius, Taylor, and Cecelia. We headed out to the airport for a redeye flight to Atlanta, where we landed early in the morning, and then a flight back to Hartford.

Waiting for our flight

Tuesday was about recovering from the flight, and the wet, cold weather we had in LA had followed us home, so Wednesday I did an easy spin on the trainer.

Friday, the weather finally cleared up, so John and I went for a spin towards Shirkshire after John finished up work.

Saturday morning, we played pickleball outside for the first time this season in Conway. A good warmup for the pickleball tournament the next day. In the afternoon, we went out for a road ride towards Ashfield. When I hit the top of Creamery Ride, I ran into John, who had just come back from a long ride with Jason.

Hatfields pickleball fundraiser

The pickleball tournament on Sunday was in the gym of the elementary school in Hatfield. The tournament was a fundraiser for the school. I was asked to partner with John, whom I knew from Pickleball in Conway.

Play schedule, we were team B

Unfortunately, he got the start time wrong and showed up too late. Fortunately, Jan was there and stepped in for him until he arrived. We played about 8 games, and definitely ate some humble pie with 4 wins, but also 4 losses. There were some good pickleball players. Paula partnered with Arlene and played well. After, we got a goodie bag with pickleball glasses, a water bottle, and a cooling towel.
